Quarter Final Matches

103 -- Sterling's Ivan Wiggins (1) was second last year and Old Bridge's Justin Smigelsky (2) was 7th-8th. Wiggins' two losses this season were in Delaware's Beast of the East tourney. Randolph's Pat Dattalo (3) has beaten Bergen Catholic's Bryan Nunziato (4) and Parsippany Hills' Brian Marcotulli (6).

112 -- Kittatinny's Matt Valenti (1) has been fourth twice and has beaten Randolph's Albert Dattalo (2), who was third last year. Camden Catholic's Ed Giosa (3) was fourth and Howell's Zac Cunliffe (4) was sixth last year. Don Bosco Tech's Sal Irizarry (6) beat State medalist Mike Marotta of Wood-Ridge, who has been eliminated.

119 -- Fourth as a freshman and State champ last year, Glen Ridge senior Joe Dubuque (1) has bounced back from a head injury suffered in his only loss. Matt Anderson (2) of South Plainfield also is a returning champion. Butler's Anthony Leardi (3) has beaten Lenape Valley's Derrick Goduto. (5).

125 -- Camden Catholic's Bob Stinson (1) has been second and third, West Deptford's Jimmy Rollins (2), who was hit by a car early this season, was sixth last year, and Indian Hills' Ricky Laforge (3) was sixth as a Delbarton freshman in '98. Hopatcong's Chris Wilson (7) decisioned Wallkill Valley silver medalist Jon Mankovich, who has pulled out due to illness.

130 -- Overbrook's Gary DeBrielle (1) earned his seed by beating Absegami's Dave Chapman (2), who has been third and fourth. State fifth-place medals have been won by DeBrielle, Randolph's Sean Markey (3), JFK-Iselin's Ed Gutnick (4), and Pascack Valley's Steve Hult (5). Gutnick also has been 7th-8th twice. Markey has beaten Delbarton's John Cholish (6), whose father, Greg Cholish, upset several high seeds when he was the State's Most Outstanding Wrestler for West Morris in 1973. Livingston's dangerous Rick Bary (8) is making his first appearance.

135 -- Sterling's Mark Manchio (1) was second as a freshman and is two-time defending champion. Kittatinny's Mike Weber (3) has beaten Randolph's Brad Webb (4), who knocked medalist Mike Palo of St. Joseph into the wrestlebacks.

140 -- Five medalists line up. Delbarton's Antonio Mangione (1) was second, Jackson's Doug Withstandley (2) has been sixth, sixth, and third; Kingsway's Brandon Becker (3) was fifth, and Lyndhurst's Dennis McSweeney (4) and Phillipsburg's Mike Fania (6) have been sixth. Withstandley has eliminated returning medalist Bob Jimenez of Brick Memorial, and Point Pleasant Boro's Pat Brady (7) also beat Jimenez and lost to Withstandley. Joe Olivo (5) has beaten Fania.

145 -- Lenape's Dave Miller (1) has been third, third, and champion, was voted last year's Most Outstanding Wrestler after beating Hackensack's Chris Bitetto (2), who has been fourth, first, and second. North Hunterdon's Ricky Frondorf (3) was fifth. Miller has beaten Toms River East's Devin Mesanko (4). Bitetto beat Paramus' Dave Bucco (5), who beat Bloomfield's Jason Galioto (6), who beat Passaic Valley's Chris Wright (7). Middle Township's Ryan Goodman (8) lost to Bitetto.

152 -- Cherry Hill West's Ryan Cunningham (1) was sixth in '99 and second last year. Parsippany Hills' Evan Galipeau (5) and Lawrence's Mike Savino (6) were 7th-8th. Livingston's Matt Kirspel (2) and Morris Knoll's Matt Deter (4) beat Galipeau. Lenape Valley's Chris Ressa (3) beat Deter.

160 -- Wall's Nick Roy (1), whose father is a River Dell graduate, was second last year. Livingston's Pat Trabucco (2) has been third, sixth, and fifth. Washington Township's Eric Ring (3) was fourth. Trabucco beat Cranford's Greg Donofrio (4). Lodi soph Jerry Rinaldi (6) beat Ressa.

171 -- State champion Mike Massenzio (1) of St. Joseph has beaten Clifton bronze medalist Rob Vargo (2) and Garfield's Ardian Ramadani (3), who took fifth. Massenzio was third for Indian Hills in 1999. Vargo has beaten Livingston's Joe DeFrancisco (4) and Woodbridge's Rudy Medini (5).

189 -- Wallkill Valley's Chris Skretkowicz (1) was fifth in '99 and champion last year and beat Morris Hills' Jamie Smith (5) this year. Hasbrouck Heights' Morgan Horner (2), 7th-8th last year, beat Livingston's Anthony Antonucci (6), who helped eliminate 7th-8th finisher John Foscolo of South Plainfield.

215 -- Rahway's Dan Garay (1) and Holy Cross' Adam Cooney (2) were sixth. Cooney and Washington Township's Mike D'Andrea (7) helped eliminate 7th-8th finisher Mike Mendenhall of Paulsboro.

275 -- Bound Brook's Chris Knapp (1) was second last year and Paulsboro's Tom Curl (2) has been fifth and third. Knapp beat Curl in last year's semis and this year's team sectionals, the latter in double OT. Garfield's Luis Castillo (3) looms as the darkhorse.
